Hernan Lopez, a prominent figure in media as the former head of Fox International Channels and the visionary behind Wondery, has officially been cleared of bribery allegations by a federal court, marking the end of a protracted legal saga that spanned over six years.

Initially indicted by federal prosecutors for his alleged involvement in a scheme to bribe FIFA soccer officials, Lopez was convicted in 2023. However, the legal trajectory saw a significant turn when Judge Pamela Chen of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York granted Lopez's motion for acquittal and overturned the conviction of Full Play Group. Despite a federal appeals court temporarily reinstating the convictions, the Department of Justice ultimately moved to dismiss the case "in the interests of justice" in December 2025, a motion formally granted by Judge Chen on May 27, ensuring the charges cannot be re-filed.
