Michael Gracey, acclaimed for his work on "The Greatest Showman," will be at the helm, directing from a screenplay penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor. Kristin Burr will oversee production through Burr! Productions, with Jessica Virtue from Disney Live Action managing the project's executive aspects. Production is scheduled to commence in Spain this June, though an official release date has yet to be disclosed.

Luna's career spans a diverse range of acclaimed projects, including "Y Tu Mamá También," "La Máquina," and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." His directorial and co-writing efforts continue with his upcoming film "Ashes," an adaptation of a Spanish-language novel, set to premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Additionally, he is slated to star in Netflix's "Mexico 86," a series chronicling the true story of Martin de la Torre's negotiations for Mexico to host the 1986 World Cup. Luna has also recently completed filming for "Eleven Days," further cementing his versatile presence in the industry. Alongside Gael García Bernal, he co-founded the production company La Corriente del Golfo, underscoring his extensive involvement in both acting and production. His casting in "Tangled" was initially reported by The Hollywood Reporter, sparking considerable excitement among fans and industry observers alike.

This adaptation signifies Disney's ongoing commitment to reimagining its animated classics for live-action audiences, promising a magical cinematic experience.
