A significant collaboration has been established between Ego Productions, a distinguished French label belonging to the Mediawan Group, and Flix Oven, a prominent Seoul-based company. The two entities have formally entered into a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and produce a diverse range of cinematic and television projects. This strategic alliance was solidified during French President Emmanuel Macron's official visit to Korea, coinciding with the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between France and Korea, underscoring the cultural and economic importance of this partnership.

The agreement was formally endorsed by Pierre-Antoine Capton, co-founder and CEO of Mediawan, and Thomas Maitland and Lee Hyojin, co-CEOs of Flix Oven. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of notable figures including Gaetan Bruel, president of the CNC, and Pierre Morcos, director of the French Institute in South Korea. All projects resulting from this partnership will be overseen by Ego Productions, a Mediawan imprint helmed by Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin and Vincent Mouluquet, ensuring a cohesive creative direction.

Kim Minjung, Flix Oven's head of development, emphasized the innovative nature of this collaboration, stating, "This partnership transcends mere intellectual property remakes. Our ambition is to collectively develop original narratives, co-produce content, and cultivate a novel, collaborative ecosystem." She further highlighted the positive impact of a recent workshop in Paris, organized by CNC and KOFIC for Korean and French producers, which she believes has ignited a new era of co-production due to the shared passion of both nations' creative communities.

This memorandum of understanding arrives at a propitious moment, characterized by heightened institutional backing for Franco-Korean screen industry collaborations. During the state visit, both governments pledged to co-chair a Moving Image Summit, scheduled to take place in France on September 7. Additionally, Series Mania previously designated Korea as its inaugural country of honor for its Lille forum in March, further cementing the growing ties between the two countries in the entertainment sector. This agreement signifies Flix Oven's strategic foray into international co-productions, building on the recent success of their feature film "Made In Korea," which achieved top-performing status among non-English titles on Netflix for two consecutive weeks following its March 12 release.

This landmark agreement between Ego Productions and Flix Oven heralds a new chapter in international film and series co-production. It not only deepens the cultural exchange between France and Korea but also sets a precedent for developing original, collaborative content on a global scale. The commitment to fostering a new ecosystem for creative partnerships promises to deliver innovative and compelling stories to audiences worldwide, leveraging the unique strengths of both companies within their respective markets.
