Patrick Schwarzenegger Joins Phoebe Dynevor in Film Adaptation of Emily Henry's 'Beach Read'
Patrick Schwarzenegger has been cast as Gus Everett in the upcoming cinematic rendition of Emily Henry's acclaimed novel, 'Beach Read'. He will co-star with Phoebe Dynevor, who is set to portray the character of January Andrews, bringing the fan-favorite romance to life on screen.
The film adaptation of 'Beach Read' will be helmed by Yulin Kuang, who also wrote the screenplay. Kuang previously adapted Henry's 'People We Meet on Vacation' for Netflix, demonstrating her familiarity with the author's narrative style. 'Beach Read' chronicles the story of January Andrews, a romance author disillusioned with love, and Augustus Everett, a literary fiction writer struggling with creative blocks. Their paths converge when they find themselves in adjacent beach houses, leading to an unconventional agreement to help each other overcome their writing obstacles. This arrangement sees January exploring romantic settings with Gus, while he introduces her to interviews with former cult members, an unlikely combination that may just spark a deeper connection between them.
Neal H. Moritz is producing the film through Original Films, with Karina Rahardja serving as executive producer. Sarah Shepard and Catherine Hughes are overseeing the project for 20th Century Studios. This adaptation is part of a larger trend, as several of Emily Henry's other popular novels, including 'Book Lovers', 'Funny Story', and 'Happy Place', are also in various stages of film development, solidifying her reputation as a prominent voice in contemporary romantic fiction. The transition of these beloved stories from page to screen offers a wonderful opportunity for broader audiences to engage with narratives that celebrate human connection and the journey of self-discovery.
