Tech Journalists Kevin Roose and Casey Newton Join UTA, Announce New Independent Venture
Tech journalism luminaries Kevin Roose and Casey Newton, known for their work on The New York Times' podcast "Hard Fork," have officially signed with UTA. This strategic alliance supports their burgeoning independent media enterprise, which is poised to explore new frontiers in technology coverage.
This development follows Roose's announcement of his upcoming departure from The New York Times in August, after a distinguished nine-year tenure. He, alongside Newton, is set to launch a new media company, featuring a new program specifically dedicated to artificial intelligence. "Hard Fork," which debuted in 2022, initially provided broad tech analysis before narrowing its focus to AI as the industry experienced rapid growth. The podcast has featured interviews with leading figures such as OpenAI's Sam Altman, Anthropic's Dario Amodei, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Upon the conclusion of "Hard Fork" in August, both Roose and Newton will concentrate on their individual projects. Roose is preparing for the release of his forthcoming book, "The AGI Chronicles: The Inside Story of the Race to Create an Artificial Superintelligence." Newton will continue to expand his independent newsletter, Platformer, a platform for in-depth tech reporting that has garnered a substantial readership since its inception in 2020.
The collaboration between these influential journalists and UTA underscores a dynamic shift in media, highlighting the increasing importance of independent content creation and specialized reporting in the rapidly evolving technology landscape. Their proactive approach to forming a new venture centered on AI demonstrates foresight and a commitment to providing timely and insightful analysis, inspiring others to embrace innovation and critical thinking in the digital age.
