A fresh take on the classic animated tale “Tangled” is underway, with acclaimed actor Diego Luna joining the cast of Walt Disney’s forthcoming live-action rendition. Luna's involvement introduces a new character specifically conceived for this adaptation, adding an intriguing layer to the much-anticipated production, which is scheduled to commence filming in Spain this June.

The leading roles for this magical adventure have been secured by Teagan Croft, set to embody the spirited Rapunzel, and Milo Manheim, who will portray the charming rogue Flynn Rider. These talented actors were selected after an extensive search across continents. Furthermore, the accomplished Kathryn Hahn, recognized for her recent captivating performances, will take on the role of the manipulative Mother Gothel. Directing this musical spectacle is Michael Gracey, celebrated for his work on hit musical biopics, ensuring the live-action film will retain the significant musical elements that fans adore from the original. While Luna’s new role is kept under wraps, it remains to be seen if his character will contribute vocally to the film's musical landscape.

This venture further solidifies Luna's existing ties with Disney, following his critically lauded performance as the lead in the Star Wars series “Andor,” which garnered him significant industry nominations. Beyond this, Luna is also directing and co-writing “Ashes (Ceniza en la boca),” a drama based on a Spanish-language novel, premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. He will also be seen in Netflix’s “Mexico 86.” The live-action “Tangled” is being produced by Kristin Burr and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor, promising a fresh yet faithful reimagining of the beloved story.
