Ford Establishes New Product Creation and Industrialization Division Under COO Kumar Galhotra's Leadership

Ford Motor Company has unveiled a significant organizational overhaul, establishing a new Product Creation and Industrialization division. This strategic move, operating under the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Kumar Galhotra, is designed to enhance the company's ability to develop and mass-produce its next-generation vehicles and advanced software-driven technologies. The restructuring is a core component of the Ford+ plan, aiming for an 8% adjusted EBIT margin by 2029 through extensive portfolio modernization and streamlined manufacturing.

A pivotal element of this new strategy is the Universal EV platform, engineered by a dedicated advanced development team located in California. This innovative platform incorporates unicastings and a fully zonal electrical architecture to minimize vehicle weight, complexity, and production costs. Ford's ambitious plans include revitalizing 80% of its North American product line by volume by 2029, starting with a mid-sized pickup truck based on the UEV architecture, followed by the introduction of future F-Series models. The company anticipates that by 2030, a remarkable 90% of its worldwide vehicle nameplates will feature electrified powertrains.

This organizational transformation also brings notable changes in leadership. Doug Field, who served as Chief EV, Digital, and Design Officer, will be departing the company next month after approximately five years. Concurrently, Alan Clarke has been elevated to the position of VP of Advanced Development Projects, where he will continue to guide the UEV team. Additionally, Kieran Cahill, VP of Manufacturing for Europe and IMG, is set to retire, concluding a distinguished 37-year career with Ford.

Ford Motor Company is a globally recognized automotive manufacturer, providing a diverse range of Ford and Lincoln brand vehicles, encompassing internal combustion, hybrid, and electric models. The company offers comprehensive automotive technologies, fleet management solutions, and financial services to a broad spectrum of clients, including retail consumers, commercial enterprises, and government entities worldwide.

The creation of the Product Creation and Industrialization organization underscores Ford's commitment to innovation and efficiency. By consolidating advanced EV and digital design with global industrial systems, Ford aims to accelerate its transition to an electrified and digitally-driven future, reinforcing its competitive position in the global automotive market and achieving its long-term financial objectives.
